This is a Tiger I of 505 Heeres Panzer Abteilung on the Eastern Front in the summer of 1943. The kit is the 1-72nd scale Tiger I from Revell. No photoeched or additional detailing was used but I replaced the muzzle brake with one that I made from plastic sheet. From various photographs I found that very often these tanks carried additional armour in the form of logs. These logs were made from real branches from a plant, the exposed end were slightly improved with putty and painted to represent a more fresher cut. The grass was glued to the base a dozen or so strands at a time (a very tedious task) making sure it was spread out in a uniform manner.
The pictures were taken against a simple background from a magazine page with a blue sky and they were retouched in PhotoShop. To add more of an atmosferic effect a column of smoke from burning wrecks were added in a few of them. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
