101st Airborne, Carentan June 1944

Diorama by Jason Miller

This Vignette was done while half way into a large project I was working on. After looking at the same kit day in and day out I needed time away from it, and this is the result. This vignette earned me my first Gold Medal.

The 101st trooper is from Michael Roberts Ltd. I didn't like the look of the M1, so I used one from Hornet and sculpted the hands around the rifle.I also added some scrim to his helmet. The German paratrooper is from a manufacturer I can't remember, sorry. The only thing added to this figure was some more personal equipment and studs on the bottom of the boots. The base coat for both figure's is done in Humbrol, then shaded with Windsor oils. Verlinden's "Normandy Gate" came to the party for the wall section while the tree was made from sea foam covered in tea leaves. A bit of static grass and some long grass made from and old paint brush finished it off.

Any comments are more than welcome.

Cheers,
Jason
