Panther Ausf. G (Steel Wheels)

Model by Antonio Martin Tello

Tamiya's kit is very good. It fits with no problems and very little sanding or filling is required. The parts have plenty of detail. I detailed my Panther by using a photo-etched set from The Show Modelling and the photo-etched engine grilles and the separate track links, both from Tamiya. Tamiya's set of track links are very nice, and at a reasonable price (at least more reasonable than the Model Kasten or Friulmodelismo ones).

I painted the model with an airbrush. I noticed in wartime shots that the borders between the colours of the camouflage are pretty hard so I used some masking paper to separate the colours. In the late stages of the war, vehicles came out of the factories with a coat of green primer, and the other colours were sprayed over this. Usually, the sand colour (dark yellow) was no longer the pre-eminent one, so the look of the vehicles was slightly darker than in earlier years. After finishing the airbrushing I washed the whole model with a very thin coat of dark brown, and when dry, I dry-brushed it with German dark yellow. The figures come from the Warriors range, with one Hornet head.
