T-44

Designed in 1944 the T-44 was intended as the follower of the T-34/85 as the main medium tank of the Soviet Army. Mechanical faults limited its post-war production and it was finally replaced by the T-54. The base kits are the Trumpeter T-54 and Modelist T-34/85. The turret was lengthened, lowered and reshaped and a new roof added. Additionally, the rear and engine decks were replaced. The painting was done with Tamiya acrylics depicting the Russian colour scheme.
