This is my 1:35 Scale "Sturmgeschütz/Schwerer Jagdpanzer E-100". It is a conversion Set by New Connection, based on Dragons E-100.
In 1943, the german Heereswaffenamt made the concept for an entirely new series of battle tanks, eliminating the shortcomings of the existin tanks. A series of 6 Vehicles was planned to be a base for further modification or special weapon systems. E5, E10, E25, E 50, E75 and E100. The E means experimental an the number is the expected weight class, but it was clear, that the weight of those vehicles would be higher. The companies developing the E Series where: Argus, Adler, Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz, Weserhütte and Auto-Union. By the end of the war, Adlers E 100 Prototype was nearly complete and by far furthest in development. This prototype was captured by allied troops in Haustenbeck and shipped to england. They tested it and probably wrecked it later (fools!). Though the program was cancelled, Adler continued the development of the E 100 but proceeded only slow. When an upgunning from 12,8cm to a gun of the 15-17cm class was decided, it was clear, this was only possible by giving up the pivoting turret concept. A hull design, similar to the jagdpanther was settled.
Some technical data:
Armament: Maingun: 17,4 cm KwK
Close Defense / Anti Aircraft Gun: 3 cm MK 103
Maybach HL 230 P30 Engine, 700 HP
Weight: ~ 150 metric tons
Fuel load: 1200 litres, Fuel consumtion: ~ 1000 litres at 100 km.
Reference: Spielberger: Deutsche Spezialfahrzeuge, Panzer Tracts, etc.
The Conversion is by New Connection (http://www.new-connection.de) The conversion features a complete upper hull with engine deck and rear hull, aluminium main gun barrel, brass AA/close Defense Weapon barrel (by Schatton Heavy Steel), Infrared equipment and a 17cm grenade w.shell.Dragons Base Kit is well known and will be re-released in September. A lot of parts remain in the box (the complete Maus turret).
Construction is straight forward and easy, with a little extra work and a counter weight, the main gun can be assembled moveable. I added a range finder to the left hull side to make a stereoskopic system. Painting is done with Tamiya acrylics. See more pics at http://www.panzer-modell.de Building this model was great fun and it is a real eye catcher.
