In 1943, the germans where concerned that the Panther could not meet the thread of Russian anti-tank weapons. A new tank was to be developed with increased front and side armour, from 80mm to 100mm at the front, and 40mm to 60mm on the sides. Many components where to be shared with the King Tiger. A new designed turret was cancelled before a mock-up was finished. Probably the so called Schmalturm was planned to be used. Upgunning was discussed, although this would bring many problems like increased weight, balance problem and limited space for loading the long 88mm Grenades.
My Model is one of the old Dragon Panther II with all his flaws. I corrected the turret, which was much too wide. Some seems had to be filled at the hull front. A CMK metal barrel without the muzzle brake with counter weight replaced the plastic gun. The excellent Friulmodel tracks replaced the kit tracks (which were not bad at all). The painting was done with Tamiya and Gunze acrylics. Weathering was a wash of oil paints. My model represents a tank in Germany, European Theatre Autumn 1945.
