This is the old Dragon Nashorn, built with the old Eduard Photo Etch Set and a lot of scratch built Parts as a 8,8cm PaK 43 auf Geschützwagen III / IV Nashorn, frühe Ausführung. Following the photographs in the excellent Nuts & Bolts No. 14 book, this model represents vehicle 231 from 2./s.Pz.Jg.Abt. 560, that was photographed in April 1943 during rail transport from Germany to assembly area for the Kursk Operation under XXXXII.A.K. /A.Abt Kempf / H.Gr.Süd.
The model was mostly built out of box with the Eduard Set that I bought during construction from eBay and which was welcome. I added the periscopes, scissors telescope, machine gun and submachine gun holders, the missing rear barrel clamp and an ammunition box interior from scratch.
The painting was done with an airbrush using Tamiya dark yellow and red brown. A heavy wash with oils, dusting with Tamiya Buff and dry-brushing completed the weathering. The crosses are decals, the numbers are airbrushed.
