This vignette depicts a G.I. BAR Gunner under fire from multiple unseen snipers. He is making what could be his "last stand" against the enemy and finding no protection from the small shutter. The location is a battle scarred French street that has seen happier times.
The G.I. figure is from Nemrod. He is a nice resin casting and needed vey little cleanup or modification. I had to give him a canteen and add the straps from his gaiters under the soles of his boots. I gave his BAR a bipod and added straps to his gun and helmet from flattened solder. The dead German is a slightly modified Dragon figure. The building was scratchbuilt and this one was cast in plaster so I could add shrapnel damage to the facade and cobbles. The dangling phone lines are solder and the decorative metal piece on the base is etched brass left over from another project. The cowboy is a water soluble temporary tattoo. The words next to him are all hand painted. The building and figures are all painted with Animators cel paint and ceramic paints.
I hope this scene conveys a sense of desperation and danger. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
