Kubelwagen with problems

Diorama by Mathias Floerke

This scene is set before Operation Citadel, spring 1943 in Russia, near Kharkow. A Kubelwagen has stopped in a small settlement, because of engine problem. The crew of the Kubelwagen worries about the engine, while the already present soldiers of an Sd.Kfz.10 with Nebelwerfer and a Steyr 1500 have a break in the garden of an abandoned Russian house. Some soldiers offer their assistance and examine the engine compartment of the Kubelwagen to make the engine work.

The Kubelwagen as well as the Steyr 1500 are from Tamiya and are built out of the box. The Sd.Kfz 10 half-track vehicle with the Nebelwerfer is from Italeri. Painting is done with Revell and Italeri colours, only with brushes! No Airbrush! Aging is done with various powders. I added some equipment, camouflage nets, air observation cloth etc., in order to create a more lifelike scene.

The Russian house is completely scratch-built and consists of a sticking stand, on which I attached individual wooden strips. The latrine in the garden as well as the wood cart is likewise scratch-built and also made of wooden strips. Different "little things" completed the scene, e.g. a chicken nest beside the house or the resting soldiers, which boards with bread and fried eggs. The scene becomes thereby animated and more
realistic.

It took approximately 200 hours over four months to finish my work.
Any comments are welcome!
