Another artillery piece of British design for Track-Link. This is the old Tamiya kit with the older Eduard photo-etched set ( 35094 ) added to enhance the model. There were a lot of small details added using brass rod and styrene. A punch and die set helped add a lot of missing rivets. All tie-downs were shaved off and replaced with Aber tie-downs. Kit molded rope was replaced with model ship rope dyed with watercolors. The Eduard kit replaced of the gun shield and several parts that really helped out this old kit. I believe Eduard offers a newer photo-etched set for this gun, but I felt there old kit worked just fine.
Weathering consisted of Winsor/Newton oil paint washes, Vallejo drybrushings, Vallejo for chips and scratches, Bragdon Rust and Winsor/Newton watercolors for rust and streaks. Gamblin pigments were used for dust and fading. Hudson & Allen mud mixed with Gamblin Ochre created the mud under the fenders of the limber and on the gun spade.
I have only one more plastic British artillery to complete for my collection and that is Airfix’s 17 pounder. I think it will be a while before that gets finished due to the extensive rebuilding of thick parts I will have to do. As far as I know the only British plastic 1/35th artillery pieces are this 25 pounder along with the Peerless/MAX’s ( Zveda/ Italaerei ) 6 pounder, Tom Modellbom’s 37 mm Bofors and Airfix’s 17 pounder.
