Jagdtiger (Porsche)

Model by Bill Goodrich

This is the DML Jagdtiger (P) built OTB. The only aftermarket items were the barrel (Jadar) and a few bits from the PE set by On-the-Mark. I did the zimerite using the really great epoxy putty by R&J enterprises. It was pretty easy to work with as long as you kept your tools damp. I chose to leave off the fenders as it looked like a lot of work to zimerite and besides, the main problem with this tank was the weak running gear, so I figured either the depot guys or the crew would have taken them off and conveniently lost them. My understanding is the Porsche models did not mount the AA machine gut, but I figured at this stage in the war the crews would grab anything they could get their hands on to help. I tried decals on the right side, which was a disaster, and dry transfers on the left, which would barely stick. I am working up my nerve to free hand paint them now. Since this was an aluminum barrel, to paint the kill rings I just chucked it into a variable speed drill and turned it slowly to paint. Worked pretty good in my opinion. Painted with Model Master Panzer Dunkelgelb (#2095) with an oil wash. For the mud I mixed some of the left over wash with some brown paint and MMP medium earth powder and daubed it on. My first attempt at mud, needs more texture. Hope you like it.
