This is the old Tamiya Panther A dog. It is not a very good kit but I wanted to do it again because this is the same model that got me back into the hobby after a 30+ year break. The original was straight out of the box, some of the parts weren’t even trimmed! I thought it would be nice to show (myself) what I had learned. With the exception of the tracks and some extra PE bits I wanted to keep the kit out of the box again. The kit tracks were soo bad I had to replace them. I had picked up a set of DML tracks on Ebay, no doubt someone had gone with aftermarket ones, but they were a vast improvement for me. The PE was from an Eduard set for the Italari Jagdpanther. I used the wonderful R&J Zimm-it-right for the zimmerit. I did several corrections, but there are so many needed with this kit I am sure I just scratched the surface. It was a fun project (not to mention cheap), even though it wasn’t the ideal kit. Painted with Model master enamels and weathered with oils, MMP powders and pencil lead. Numbers and crosses were hand painted (obviously) just as the real ones probably were over zimmerit. I was intending to use the kit figures, but they went AWOL thanks to my 3 year old. Next I need to work on my photo skills ;) [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
