I know these are quite unsual pictures, but I wanted you to see the my IDF´s TOW Mutt before it gets its color coat. I think such variety of materials gives the kit quite funny look :)
This is a real "dr.Frankenstein´s piece". I started with new Academy´s SHMIRA kit and mixed it with the old Tamyia´s M151 TOW jeep. Of course, IDF´s TOW version is much different, so lot of scratchbuilt stuff had to be added. The materials I used for scratchbuilding were plastic strips and rods of different sizes, alu-foil and also a piece of wire for demonstrating the safety frame above the commander´s seat. I also used some of the Eduard´s PE parts dedicated to the SHMIRA kit.
The most important changes I made are following..
- new front fenders´ends (A1 to A2 version)
- weighted wheels
- 100% scratchbuilt commander´s seat
- 50% scratchbuilt driver´s seat
- different floor in the rear body
- new holders for spare TOW rockets
- holes in TOW launcher (seriously tought 1hour of my life!)
- safety frame
- basket in the rear
- tools box on the right fender
- front lights
