Churchill Mk IV AVRE with SBG

Model by Mark Cooper

Tamiya Churchill back dated to a Mk IV AVRE using styrene, parts of the Eduard PE set and Resicast turret. The early style tracks are from Accurate Armour. The SBG was built with styrene and bass wood using a set of 1/76 drawings which were re-scaled to 1/35.

The decals are mixture of Archer Transfers and the Testors decal making system. The testors system is not perfect but it works very well for making names and serial numbers. The model was finished using Tamiya acrylics, pigments and oil washes. It is based on a photo of the vehicle "Sepoy" in Normandy 1944 (IWM #BU 860).

The project took just over 9 months to complete and presented a number of challenges. However, once completed I believe it was worth the effort. Of course if I were to do it again I would make a few changes.
