This is the Italeri 1/35 kit released (I guess) in 2001, built it last November. Painted by hand, weathered with a single action airbrush, has some oils used on it too, tried to make it look very worn out.
Chile received 50 or so vehicles from the USA as part of the Military Assistance Program. Some of them may have been used previously by the French Army, but I havenīt been able to confirm that assestement. Served along M41A1/A3 Walker Bulldogīs light tanks in following years. In the early 70īs, only change made to them was the replacement of the original gas engine for a new diesel one.
The vehicle depicts an unmodified M24 of the Chilean Army, as seen in maneuvers in the desert near the city of Antofagasta in mid 70īs, retaining the original 75mm main gun. In early 80īs, most of these vehicles were upgunned with a high velocity 60mm gun made in Israel, and served well into the 90īs until the arrival of 202 ex-dutch Leopard 1-V. Last ones were deleted from chilean inventories in 2002, after serving the Chilean Army for almost 60 years.
