The Fall of Koenigsberg

Diorama by Michael Bishop

This vignette depicts Russian troops with trophies after the capitulation of the city of Koenigsberg on April 9, 1945. The battle commenced on April 6 and more than 27,000 Germans were captured following Hitler's orders to fight to the last cartridge.

The figures are from TANK and are very nicely sculpted. I modified the arms and hands very slightly to make them carry the signs. Everything was painted with ceramic paints and cel paints. Most of the rubble and their helmets were washed with a pastel stain.
