Maquette makes this Model 1943 152mm howitzer. The base kit is shared with the Zvezda/Italaerei 122mm howitzer. The gun and parts of the cradle are conversion pieces. These parts appear almost like resin filled with flash and soft detail. Material is soft but glue able like styrene.
Just a few details were added to the kit using Evergreen styrene. Rivets on the trailing arms were shaved off to match the gun at Aberdeen Proving Grounds and the gun in the Schiffer book ‘Soviet Field Artillery in World War II’. Tamiya paints were used for the base with watercolor washes and oil paint drybrushing. Watercolor, pastels, graphite, Hudson & Allen mud and Rustall were used for the weathering. The mdoel was completed in April 2002.
Sort of an oddball Soviet artillery piece. I wish someone would come out with an injected molded 203mm howitzer, the one on tracks. That would be interesting.
