155 mm M1 howitzer

Model by Michael Bedard

Peerless/MAX offered this kit way back in the late 1970s. It was they’re second offering preceded by their M26 Dragon Wagon. It had a lot of metal parts and workable options. Italari re-released this kit replacing several of the metal parts and rubber wheels. Tim Streeter has very nice build-up and detail section about this gun on his site.

This kit was built straight out of the box in about 1992. It won ‘out of the box’ at the National IPMS that summer in the US. Tamiya paints were used for base coat and drybrushing. Winsor/Newton watercolors were used for washes and some weathering. Pastels were also used for weathering. Rub-N-Buff was used for the metal barrel.

An old kit that needs a lot of detail work to bring it up to speed. Part of my US artillery collection.
