In the early years after World War 2, the young Bundeswehr of Germany used a lot of American equipment. One of the artillery spguns was the M52. The Hobby Fan kit is a complete resin kit. This model was built by Michael Molter and airbrushed by Frank Forster in comission for the German Artillery Society, which runs a small museum at the German Artillery School in Idar-Oberstein. The society makes historic research and preserves the history of Aerman artillery. Those who are interested can visit the museum after making an appointment and will get a guided tour.
The kit itself is pretty well detailed but suffered a few missing parts that were replaced by scratch built parts. Michael used injection moulded track-links from Acadamy. These tracks are well detailed but about 90% of the links have a nasty sinkmark in the rubber cusion. I have painted the model in Tamiya Olive Drab and faded it with a little white. We could not find enough information about markings so we just applied iron crosses and license plates.
This is a nice little model with only a few shortcomings, turret is fixed and no interior is supplied, but it is quite accurate and straight forward to build. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
