GAZ-67/420 Hard Top model 44

Model by Drew Youngman

This is based on Tamiya's Gaz-67B #35021 kit. I wanted to do the tarp style roof but after finding a Squadron type book on the Gaz jeep and the Ba-64 I decided to construct a hardtop version as a few prototypes were actually produced in late 1943 and 44 to improve riding conditions going in to the winter cold months.

I decided to use balsa at first for the roof but then went with using a vacuum former I have at my work to pull off the curve. The rest is sheet plastic. I used MV lens I grabbed at the local train store. I also used some PE from Royal(?) for the windshield wipers as well as the hardware for the hood and is painted using Vallejo air and MIG pigments forthe wear.

The male officer is combo of Verlinden w/ an Alpine head and the female traffic officer is a conversion of the old Tamiya female tanker combined with the head from one of Dragon's Viet-cong sets using Magic-Sculpt for the greatcoat, hair etc., and some aluminum was used for the ppsh straps and a they are both painted w/ Vallejo.
