Type 92 Jyu-Sokosha

'Jyu-Sokosha (Heavy Armored Car) was the only AFV confirmed used by the Japanese that used welded construction rather than rivets. Only 167 were produced because the welding technique was flawed. The Type 92 was only used in China.

This kit is a resin and white metal kit by Pit Road. As with most Pit Road metal castings the detail is a little heavy. The resin casting (hull, turret, 13mm gun mount) suffered from some warping in the hull. I replaced the muffler screen (the kit piece was solid cast metal) with some photo-etch fret and photo-etch screen. Buckles were added using lead foil and photo-etch buckles. Tracks were a bit difficult in that they didn’t respond to glue very well.

Tamiya and Vallejo paints were used to finish the model that was completed in December 2005. All the same do-dads I’ve mentioned in prior submissions were used to weather the vehicle. I did however use the glaze or ‘filter’ method of going over the base paint to create streaking and fading.
