This is the second to the last entry that I have available for track-link’s Pacific theme. This model represents a M7 Priest (late production) in Manila 1945. I’m not sure any late M7s made their way to the Pacific but it is possible I suppose.
This is the old Italeri kit of which I did a lot (at least in my opinion). The driver’s compartment and engine compartment were scratch built based on the old Cornerstone Whirlwind engine and Sherman transmission. Lots of parts were replaced with brass rod and styrene strip. All the weld beads were added using the same method that is described in my Char B build-up. Verlinden ammo was added with markings researched on the web. An Eduard photo-etch set was added also. Road wheels are Tamiya wheels split and sandwiched together to obtain detail on both sides. Tracks are also from Tamiya. The ammo trailer is the excellent Tiger Model Designs pieces with Aber tie-downs added. The Japanese flag was copied directly from the one my father brought back after the war that has written on it 6 Japanese cities. The stowage is from Academy, Tamiya, Verlinden, D.A.M., Yanks and scratch-built.
Unfortunately this model did not place at the Kansas City IPMS nationals. If any of the judges remember this piece I would greatly appreciate what you saw that disqualified this piece from and award. That is the only way that I am going to improve is to have another set of eyes point out what I missed.
