I decided to build something unusual for the Pacific Contest. Also I prefer to build German WW2 vehicles and panzers. So my choice was Sd.Kfz.223 of Nationalist's China army. These vehicles were bought in Germany and were a part of the 3rd Armoured Battalion. It consisted of 15 PzKpfw I Ausf. A, 20 Italian Tankettes Fiat CV33, 18 Sd.Kfz.221/223, for a total of: 53 vehicles. The personnel was further equipped with German-made rifles, helmets and other equipment. In December 1937 the 3rd Armoured Battalion took part in defence of Nanjing. All the vehicles
were lost in this battle.
The kit is from Tamiya with a number of scratch-built parts. These included weld seams, exhausts, side wings and rivets on them, turret interior and locks on the boxes. Small parts such as the shovel, MG-34 and horn are from Tamiya's equipment set. The MG-34 barrel is from Model Point. The headlights are slight conversion of Elf. Photo-etched leaves, clasps and clearance indicators are from Lion Roar. The hexagonal bolts from MasterClub and the tow cable is from Karaya.
The painting was done with Tamiya acrylics. Chiang Kai Shek's Army emblem is made with help of self-made
stencil. Washes and filters with artist's oil and Weathering by pastels.
I want to say best words to colleagues from Axis History Forum for their help in searching
photos and information. Special thanks to Asiaticus. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
