M113 APC, QAMR

Model by David Leonard

This model was given to me as a rebuild a few months ago, I think it was the Tamiya kit. It had been made up as a UN APC in white representing the NZ deployment to Bosnia in 95. It was not realy accurate witht he wrong turret and in pretty poor condition, broken, covered in dust etc. I found the spare parts I needed in the Acadamy APC kit, including the T50 turret, and some other bits such as lights etc. The MERDC cam pattern was replicated from photos taken of an APC in storage with the Army Museum. Phantom is an actual APC, but I could not find the call signs that went with it. The vehicle is an APC of Queen Alexandria's Mounted Rifles (QAMR) around 1990. These old war horses have recently been retired after over 30 years with the NZ Army, including service in Vietnam, Bosnia and East Timor.

The paint was all Tamiya Acrylics airbrushed, a wash with fuelite and burnt umber oil paint was followed by a drybrush with oils and Humbrol Enamels. Enamels were used to pick out the detail. The .50 cal and GPMG are both Tamiya spares.

Hope you like it. I made this at the same time I was making the Scorp to go with it.
