GAZ M1

Plus Models makes this resin kit of the GAZ M1. After doing some research the grill and basic configuration is actually the GAZ-11-73. The hubcaps (which are awesome) are actually from a 1950s GAZ sedan. I did have some difficulties with a gap in the rear body over the rear fenders that was eventually filled with A+B epoxy putty. The Plus Models kit is based on the chassis of the Alan BA-20 armored car. This is just the reverse of the actually vehicle. Additions to the kit were door and window handles on the interior, photo-etched interior rear view mirror, glass over the instruments and foot pedals. Plus Models does include clear resin parts for the headlights but I replaced them with MV lenses.

Tamiya paints were used to finish the model with a coat of Future floor wax for the glossy parts. My usual method of weathering was used for all the dirt and grime.

A great kit once again from Plus Models. I finished the model August 2006 and plan to have the vehicle as part of a factory diorama within the next 10 years (my rate of finishing dioramas).
