Poteau Grenadier, Ardennes Dec .1944

This project was inspired by the famous sequence of photographs of the "ambush" at Poteau, in particular the shot of grenadiers crossing the road. The figure is S&T Product's SS Sturmann, 1/16th scale. It was made straight from the box, the only addition being the strap for the machine gun and painted with Tamiya acrylics.

The base was made from a picture frame, built up with polystyren and plastic card. The road was made from an adhesive lino tile, the groundword is real crushed leaves and model grass. The silver birch was scratch built from a piece of balsa dowell covered with filler.

I enjoyed the project as a change from my usual armour and planes (and eyes are so much easier in this scale!) and look forward to any comments
