At long last, here is my completely finished M4A1(76)W! The kit is the old Italeri kit with Tamiya tracks and sprockets, Academy suspension, a brand new Tasca .50 cal MG, and a whole lot of home made improvements. As a matter of fact, about the only parts from the original kit I kept were the lower and upper hull, the hull hatches, the armored air intake cover, the turret shell and the gun mantle. The hedgerow cutter was scratchbuilt. The turret was converted into the early fan-less type after the kit had been painted!
The model was painted with Tamiya acrylics and weathered with ground pastels and a mixture of white glue, water colors, dirt and water. It is camouflaged and marked as a vehicle of the 2nd Armored Division as they appeared in the opening stages of Operation Cobra.
The figures represent soldiers of the 4th Infantry Division, whose 22nd Regimental Combat Team was supported by tanks of the 66th Armored Regiment at that time. They are modified Tamiya figures and were painted with Testors ModelMasters enamels. The air recognition panel was made with aluminum foil. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
