Ford MMGS Mk 1916 Scout Car

Model by Michael Bedard

This little 1/35th scale model is the Ford M.M.G.S. Mk 1916 Scout Car produced by RPM. It is a fairly basic kit with what I would call ‘adequate’ crispness of molding and detail. I bought the kit on sale from Squadron quite a while back and remember not paying more than maybe $4 for the kit. Considering I seem to have A.M.S. (advanced modeler’s syndrome) this kit was pretty simple in that I have absolutely no reference on the vehicle. I did however replace several thicker styrene parts with brass rod and added a few bolts using a punch-and-die set. The only real extra was the inclusion of MV lenses for headlights and various lamps. The model was finished January4, 2007.

Finishing was completed using Tamiya, PollyScale and Vallejo acrylic paints. Weathering was my usual system of Hudson & Allen products, Winsor/Newton watercolors, Bragdon products, Gamblin pigments and so forth. I know I should have been finishing my Char B1 but this was a nice break from the Blog.
