While I was digging through some Sherman reference material I ran across this set of photos of a diorama that I did 30 or more years ago. It was made for the history department University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Dr. Richard Marcus was the professor that commissioned the piece. The only photos I have were taken by the history department.
The whole diorama was inspired by an article in Scale Modeler (or was it Military Modeler?)of Airfix Grant and Multi-pose figures. My diorama features Tamiya Grant and 8th Army desert figures (modified) and Italaerei M13/40. Rudimentary interiors were made for both as well as some scratch built items. At the time I was using Pactra and Testors enamels for everything. I also remember using baking soda for sand texture.
Since Dr. Marcus has passed away I'm not sure what has happened to the diorama. It would be interesting to see what it looks like 30 years later. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
