Char B1 Bis: TUNISIE

Model by Roy Chow

This is the excellent Tamiya 1/35 kit of the French Char B1 Bis. Using photos of "Tunisie", I sought to replicate and details as many features as possible found on one of these early Renault produced tanks. Details include adding several lines of rivets, mud chutes atop the sponsons, hull hatch large diameter access point, turret weld seams, several fittings to commander's cupola, thinned kit fenders, and a list of other sundry fittings.

I used the Archer dry transfers for "Tunisie", tank no. 204 of the 3me compagnie, 15e BCC which was lost in action on May 19, 1940 after attacking German held positions near the village of Le Catelet. I chose to apply the more colorful markings that were on Tunisie seen in the September '39 timeframe.

The kit was courtesy of Pete at megahobby.com and the dry transfers were courtesy of Woody at Archer.
