This is Dragon's new Sherman III kit with a number of add-ons. The hull and turret hatches are from Tiger Models, there are a some left over Formations tools and photoetch tool straps from the spares bin. Also used are Formations headlights and track skids left over from the Tasca suspension set.
The vehicle has a number of items that are unique to the Italian campaign. First, the rear sand skirts have been moved up to the hull sides and welded in place to be used for stowage. There's also a rear stowage basket made out of a piece of PSP plating and the middle parts of the sand skirts. The driver's hood has applique armor in the form of one side of a left over tank commander's hatch. All of these items can be seen in photos.
The tracks are from RHPS and while more commonly seen in North Africa, there are photos of this type of track right up to the end of the war. The tank commander is a Verlinden item with an Ultracast head. The infantry figures are from a Tamiya set.
The vehicle is painted in the black over mud scheme using Model Master enamels and the decals are home made using the Testor's Inkjet printing system which worked great. The markings are based on drawings in a book on South African markings.
