During the invasion of France, hundreds of French Tanks were captured. Regarding the Geschutzwagen, 48 of thes self-propelled guns were produced utilising the chassis of French Hotchkiss H-39 tanks married with a 10.5cm 18/40 Howitzer. Tha type of gun was particulary powerful with a range of dozen km. and a rate of fire of between 6 and 8 rounds per minute, protected by an armoured cockpit.

They were still in service during 1944 and saw action in Normandy. These vehicles were only used in the West. The only known surviving vehicle is located at the Saumur Museum in France.

This vehicle become represented as part of the 200th Assault-Gun Battalion - 2nd Battery under the Major Becker Command in the combats in Giberville France involved in the first line defensive of 18 to 20 of July during the Operation Goodwood.
