KV- Beefed up what if version

Model by Siim Suurkaev

This is totally a non historic vehicle. I wanted to see how a KV would look if it would have been designed by me.

So I started out with a Trumpeter 1:35 KV kit. I used the kit hull to build onto and the kit turret is there too....somewhere.:-) I used regular kids clay and shaped it onto the kit turret. I added massive welds and coated the whole thing with Tamiya putty to give it texture. (I got influenced by the IS-3.) The commander's cupola is made out of 3 Jagdtiger steel wheels put together and coated with putty. The massive barrel is supposed to be a new design, no muzzle brake needed. It was made from two brass tubes, one put inside the other to give the barrel walls more thickness. I added a tarp and also some bolts to go along.

Ok, onto the hull. I made the hull wider and gave it a mean angular look. it was not easy as the return rollers had to be lowered and also the front idler needed careful fitting to make sure the tracks clear the hull. The air intakes were beefed up because this beast of course would have had a more powerful engine. Scratch built from plastic card, so are the fenders. Funny thing is that King Tiger side skirts fit this model perfectly.

To top it off I made it into a beute panzer and gave it German style camo (over the base green) and markings.

I hope that explains the process. You can see a step-by-step build on the following link.

I would like to enter it in the construction contest.
