M3A3 1/12 RCA

Model by Jerry Plettenberg

2ème DB M3A3, my entry for the Light Tanks Competition.

On August 14th 1944 the Second Armoured Division of the Free French under the command of Gen. Leclerc disembarked via Utah Beach on French soil to help liberate France and defeat Germany. This M3A3 depicts "Vexin" belonging to the 2nd Platoon of the 1/12e RCA (Regiment de Chasseurs Africaines) and is made from the excellent AFV Club kit.

The kit itself is OOTB, with the following detail additions
* Added camo netting, C-rations box and oil tin from Verlinden and Plusmodel.
* Added resin tarp and roll from Accurate Armour
* Added the really excellent dry decals from Archer's brand new set AR35256

Weathering and wear was kept minmal on the vehicle since I wanted to depict this M3A3 just shortly after disembarking. Schminke pastels were used for the light weathering.

At a later stage I am going to use this kit together with a Sherman M4A2 "Tarentaise" of the same unit into a Normandy diorama.
