This is a model I have no built three times. I first built this kit in 2002. Then, unhappy with the finish, I repainted it in 2003. Recently I pulled it off the shelf yet again and refurbished it in both construction and finish. The donor model is the Academy M60 'Blazer' with mine rollers. The conversion kit is from AEF Designs as are the steel roadwheels (a la M48 style). The tracks are from Friul (Merkava 1 & 2). Details are from an Eduard photoetch set, Blast Models Israeli detail set, and a whole lot of scrath building.
This wouldn't have been too tough a conversion except the AEF parts had huge air bubbles. Call me picky but I think that if you can squirt putty straight from the tube into the air bubble, then that part is a reject! I made this conversion even more difficult by opening up the rear stowage bin. The AEF part is a solid resin block depicting the bin with a tarp over it. But I wanted to show stowage so I ground it out with a Dremel motor tool (probably took a couple of years off my life doing that).
Painting was with Model Master enamels and oil washes. The decals are home made using the Testor's ink jet decal printing sheets. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
