The Magach 6B Gal Batash is a highly modified version of the M-60A1/A3 series of tank used by the IDF. The turret and front of the hull are covered in additional armor plates along with side skirts and belly armor. The donor model is the Academy M-60 'Blazer' and the main conversion kit is from Legends. In addition, Eduard photoetch, Friul tracks, a couple of items from Blast Models and a whole lot of scratch building went into this kit.
The main scratch building was the turret basket which is made from 68 parts. The Legends set contains one that is a solid piece portraying a basket covered with a tarp. But I wanted to show the gear in the basket and super detail it. Also scratch built are the unarmored part of the side skirts since the Legend ones didn't have backside detail (visible from behind) and had some air bubbles and the hull mounting rails for the skirts. There's also a lot of small scratch building to detail out the machine guns and other features.
Finally, I lowered the hull about 3mm to better match the available references. The road wheels are from a Tamiya M48 Patton kit since the IDF replaced the M60's aluminum ones with the older, stronger steel versions.
Painting was done mainly with Model Master enamels. Weathering is a combination of oil washes and MIG pigments.
For the base, I used a Verlinden set for the wall that I cut down. The junk yard was a convenient way to use up a lot of left over parts. The laundry dryer, TV, and dumpster are from a Verlinden Modern Accessories set. The washer and dumpster were weathered using a sponge method to get the paint chipping and rusting. The street sign is sheet plastic and tube with a Verlinden road sign set for the markings. The tank crew is a modified CMK set and the IDF soldiers and Palastinian shop owner are from Verlinden.
