M4A1 Sherman, Sicily July 1943

Model by Dave Williams

This is an M4A1 Sherman of the US 67th Armd Regt, 2nd Armoured Div during Operation Husky in July 1943. I used the DML kit as base, with a few improvements. I added some Formations tools, a Tasca .50 cal with 50 round feed box by Resicast, Academy vinyl tracks and stowage by Resicast, AA and Verlinden. The Jerry can rack was built as per Steve Zaloga's guidance in his 75mm Sherman modelling book, and filled with Italeri Jerrycans. The figure was from the Tamiya M8 Greyhound set, with a Hornet head.

It was painted in Tamiya acrylics, with oil washes and filters. The Allied stars were sprayed through a stencil, and the bumper codes were from the Tasca M4A1 set.
