The idea to build Syrian Panzer IV was attending my mind during last few years. I was attracted by the very unusual view of this tank with DsHKMT mashine gun, and a number of other differences from standard Pz IV. These tanks saw combat in 1956 during “Water war” and in 1967 during “Six-day war”. One of them was captured by IDF and now is exhibited in museum in Latrun. It was chosen as a prototype for my model.
I kitbashed Tamiya`s Pz IV H and Dragon`s Pz IV E to achieve maximum similarity with the original. I took from DML kit: the running gear, commander`s cupola, turret interior, stowage bin and tools. The supporting rollers and dempfers are from Tristar. I made the following syrian differences: DsHKMT mounting, tool box, transferred the Notek light on the nose, spare tracks on the glacis and tools on the sides of hull, made the track cleats flat, also added soviet cable and tank helmet. Most of the welding seams were scratch-built. The PE is from Lion Roar, fenders are Voyager, PE turret interior and barrel from Aber. Machine gun is from Tank.
The model was painted with mixture of Tamiya acrylics XF-51, XF-58 è XF-4. Then three layers of the SIN filters for green vehicles were applied. Washing was made with 502 Abt paint Shadow Brown. The chips made with Akan and Vallejo acrylics. The dust – Gulf war sand and Light dust pigments from MIG.
The following kits were used:
