"Cat and Mouse" diorama built by Stacey MacDonald
"Cat and Mouse" was partly inspired by the "Haunted Tank" series of stories in the old G.I. Combat comic (1961-1987). In the comic, a M3 Stuart tank and its crew was haunted/protected by the ghost of Confederate Calvary General Jeb Stuart of American Civil War fame as it single-handedly fought off German Tiger tanks, etc. from North Africa to the European continent. I commissioned Stacey MacDonald of Santa Rosa, California to build the diorama (I am not a model builder).
The diorama is built on a 14” x14” base. The ruined building and the storefront street façade were cast from existing molds. A downed parachute was draped over the ruined building to provide more concealment for the Stuart and the American soldiers. In true comic book fashion the Americans are outnumbered and out-gunned but have the advantage of surprise on the over-confident Germans.
