This is the Academy 1/35 M3 Grant finished as a M3 General Grant Mk I from The Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry, 9th Armoured Brigade, 2nd New Zealand Division - North Africa 1942. The Wiltshire's took part in the Battal of El Alamein from Oct 1942. Equipted with a mix of Crusaders, Grant Mk I's and Sherman Mk II's they are reported as being the first unit into action during the battle.
I used the new Panda Plastics We210 tracks for the vehicle, bogies and the gun rotor from the old Tamiya Grant to fix a few problems and stowage from the spares box and one of the Resicast Sherman stowage sets. I scratch built items to correct the interior layout and some items for the external stowage.
It was painted with White Ensign paints and finished with some Mig filters and pigments.
Despite the poor press the kit received and some errors that need fixing, it was a lot of fun to huild and gives a fairly good representation of the vehicle. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
