Spring 1945

Diorama by Alan Loke

This is my first attempt at doing a dio. It depicts a late Panther G somewhere in East Germany, in the early spring of 1945. The tank is parked at the side of a forest path, and some SS soldiers are asking for directions. The idea for the tank's camouflage is from a picture I saw, where only the vertical sides have the camouflage.

The tank is DML's Night Fighting Panther, detailed with Aber's set for Panther G. For the IR equipment, I only installed it without the MG for the tank commander, since I discovered that the one depicted by DML is wrong.. The figures are a combination of Tamiya, Dragon and resin.

The ground was made from Pollyfilla, and the grass was from a cheap brush, cut at various length. The brush was first dyed green before being cut and planted into the wet plaster. As for the tree, it was made from a twig, dried flowers and shredded foam.

Seeing that this was my first attempt at doing a diorama, I was a bit apprehensive at first. But I¡¦m actually quite happy with it, especially the way the grass and tree turned out. Please, do give me some comments (advice or criticism) -I look forward to them :) That's the only way I'll be able to learn. Thanks!
