Bombardier/VW iltis
Canadian AOR Bosnia 1999

Photo Series by Graeme Davidson

Bombardier iltis 1/4 ton 4x4. Pictured here as a Liaison Vehicle during Op Palladium Jan-Aug 1999. UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees) vehicle is a Nissan Patrol. The large antennae is for the HF radio, not normally fitted on the Canadian-based ilitis. The fog-lights are a driver installed modification, as is the portable CD player and speakers (not shown). You can see white paint chips from the vehicles UNPROFOR days, and note the mis-matched repainting of the OD and the care taken to apply the SFOR stencils. The pouch on the hood is used for holding the drivers and passenger side front doors (there is no A/C in an iltis!).
