After hearing about a German halftrack that was recovered from a river and put back into working order, it was nice to see that a book was written of this rare beast. It is an actual SdKfz. 251 as opposed to an OT-810 made to look like a SdKfz. 251.
However, this book covers three halftracks in Polish museums. One of these was used by the Polish Home Army (AK) during the uprising in September of 1944.
What makes this book a great value is the excellent workmanship of the restorers which try to put a rare variant into working order including a stove!
The variant (found with the name Rosi) is of the SdKfz 251/3-IV. The last roman numeral denotes the radio set. It is covered in 60 photos that detail every aspect of the vehicle. The radios, mounts, engine, undercarriage, etc. are covered in exhaustive detail.
The Warsaw uprising vehicle has 7 photos, one in B & W. The second Warsaw example was pulled from a river and has 8 photos.
Just for good measure, two pages are dedicated to 1/35th scale plans and another two to four color profiles. Last, there is one period photo.
All in all, an excellent reference for those interested in this vehicle. What makes it even more special is that PART produces a complete series of detail sets including one to convert the Tamiya kit to the /3-IV variant including the stove! The only thing missing is the actual telescoping antenna.
Please note that the price quoted is that paid if ordering direct from Poland.
Highly recommended!
