This soft cover book by Wydawnictwo Militaria covers the Stug III Ausf. A-G, The StuH 42, the StuIG 33 B and the Su-76i. It has 56 B&W photos (wartime photos and preserved vehicles), 12 colour plates, 13 side views, one full drawing (front, back side, top views) of an Stug III Ausf. F and several smaller drawings depicting details of the vehicle. Text is Polish only, I'll review this as well as I'm a native Polish speaker.

The wartime pics are widely known - they make up most of the photos and almost any can be found in the Armagedon "Stug In Action" book. The pictures of preserved vehicles concentrate on suspension details and a part of the interior with only some outside shots. The preserved vehicles shown are the Stug III F/8 from Belgrad (Serbia), Stug III G from Banska Bystrzyca (Slovakia) and Kubinka (Russia) and the Su-76i from Sarny (Ukraine). Pictures differ in size, some are really small and not helpful. The side views lack any scale reference, you'll have to measure them yourself - although they seem to be close to 1:35 (most seem a bit smaller). Detailwise, they are really good. The full drawing of the Stug III F depicts not the F/8 but an earlier variant with the Stuk 40 L/43 cannon and is described as 1:35 - a quick measurement makes it seem spot on. The colour plates are especially nice, with an Ausf. D in dark yellow sticking out. The additional drawings provide info about details like interior, suspension and plate angles. Also the back of the book has three painted pictures of crew members in different uniforms.

The text covers Stug development in the first part, giving descriptions of the Stug III Ausf. A-G, StuH 42, StuIG 33 B, Su-76i, the Sturmgeschütz III Flammpanzer (two paragraphs, no pictures) and the Sturmgeschütz III Munitionspanzer (one paragraph, no pictures) in the given order, concentrating on the main changes between versions. The second part gives detailed technical information about construction details - engine, suspension, hull, radio equipment, optical equipment, Schürtzen, Zimmerit, armament are covered, unfortunately not all those elements are shown in detail shots of the real thing. The third part gives a brief description of Stug unit organisation, the fourth concentrates on Stug employment, giving a comprehensive summary for all fronts. The last part gives some information about unit markings, but without any examples. The text is (IMVHO) correct, but one caption designates a Stug III F/8 as a Ausf. G - this seems like a printing mistake but I wonder if there are more of them...

To sum up, a good source of especially technical information with nice colour plates and drawings - but not a great photo source. As the text is in Polish I'd recommend it to diehard Stug fans only - but it is rather cheap so it might be worth a look for everyone.
