Ultracast has joined the many companies that have released ammunition boxes for the heavy M2 Machine gun.  While I have many of the various plastic, resin, and photo-etched sets, I was eager to get this one as well.

Simply put, it is a great value.  For less than six US Dollars, one gets seven .50 Cal. ammunition boxes that are beautifully detailed without having to fold photo etch.

The pieces are perfectly cast and have fine details but are missing the ordnance logo (flaming bomb) from the sides.  However, they are amazingly simple to use and after removal and painting, and scream out to have some markings put on them.  Archer, Decalcomaniacs, Quarter Master Depot, Verlinden Productions, Pre Size and others have made decals and transfers for this type of ammo box.

The details match photos of the real thing and the sizes correspond to measurements in Technical Manuals.

The down side is that none were molded open.
