This release was done to a rather unusual scale. However, the fact that it is stated to be 80mm (3.15 inches) meant that the figure would be the equivalent of a 6 foot three and a half inch tall warrior next to my Hasegawa 1/24th scale Kubelwagen.
However, after speaking to Think One Eighty's proprietor, he informed me that the figure measures 80m to the eyes. A check with my micrometer shows that the beautiful one piece casting is 3.38 inches from the top of its head to the bottom of its boots. This would convert to a giant of 6 foot nine inches next to the Kubel.
In any case, the figure is excellent. Although the pose is unusual, he stands with arms slightly away and behind his body as if glaring over the destruction he has caused. In his right hand is a Kar 98k rifle which is well done with the sling cast in resin. No need for lead foil here.
There are four pieces, the rifle with hand attaches, the helmet, left hand, and the body. He wears a late war uniform with gaiters. The details are nicely done. His rifle and bandoliers seem accurate as well as the bread bag molded on. There was only a hint of flash which I removed with the back of my knife.
Other clean-up is due to the molding process. The third photo shows the sprue attachment points, marked in red, on the upper body. These are thoughtfully in areas were working on removing them would not damage adjacent detail.
The hands are beautifully sculpted. This is a weak spot on some other figures. A bit of stretched sprue will simulate a cigarette.
The left hand is depicted as holding a cigarette on the box insert which serves as a painting guide. A bit of stretched sprue will simulate a cigarette.
The fit was excellent; luckily there are not a lot of parts. Even though the figure is scaled about 1/22.5, I will still place him on a base with the new Hasegawa Kubelwagen. A figure painter will have a grand day with this release. It is highly recommended for them.
