When I got this barrel direct from China, I wondered what the difference would be from the Jordi Rubio item I already owned. So, I pulled it out and pored over each.
This barrel is smoothly turned with absolutely no tool marks. There is a nice tight thread on the barrel end and it seems to be the same twist as the JR offering. However, the interior of the barrel is grooved to resemble rifling. It is a bit overdone yet it is nice to have.
What makes this barrel stand out is that it is a direct replacement for the Dragon item in their early Jagdpanzer 38 kit.
In the first photo, you see from the left, the Jordi Rubio barrel with On the Mark Models rifling, the kit barrel with threaded end cap take from the Jagdpanzer IV L/48 kit, the LionRoar barrel and the Dragon mantlet.
In the second photo, I have slipped the mantlet on and it is a very good fit. This definitely saves time and makes this particular barrel variant an easy proposition.
Then, why not more than four stars? The third photo, taken by me in Warsaw, shows a slot that should have been machined into the muzzle end. It was supposed to be used to hold a muzzle brake in place. Also, there is a small step which is included in the JR barrel that is missing.
In any case, it is a very good barrel and only the eagle eye will notice the omissions. Highly recommended.
Applicable kit will be the early Dragon Jagdpanzer 38 or any with the thread protector removed for maintenance.
LionRoar products are now distributed in the United States by Dragon Models USA.
