This is a three piece casting in Alumilite resin, cast from a metal master that was machined by Daniel Munoz of Quebec,Canada. I have the Karl kit from Dragon and while this included a metal shell it is lacking in details that are needed.
When I saw Daniel's posts on another web site showing his progress with a metal shell that he was machining to exact standards, I had to have one. I received mine in the post yesterday and looking at it, I'm very pleased with the investment. I chose the three piece version, (there is a one piece item).
The casting plugs were cut with the Dremel tool and some minor sanding was done but the hard resin parts fit together with the precision of a Nasa designed artifact. There was one tiny air bubble on the bottom plate. Some of the holes on the rear propellant casing need to be drilled out as in the casting process air has been trapped but this is a very easy task.
Here is a link to Daniel's web page were you can obtain more info about the developement and making of this item.

I'm happy with Daniel's shell and recommend it for those wanting a little more accuracy in the display of the Karl.
