For British/Commonwealth fans, comes this new figure form Warriors.
This figure comes dressed in the lightweight Desert/ Tropical uniform, high "woolie" socks, putties and boots. He sports the Mk II helmet and web gear and holds the Lee Enfield rifle. A bandage is wrapped around one forearm suggesting a recent injury. A piece of "rock" comes as a bonus base.
The pose is well pulled off, one foot rests on a raised section of rock (could easily be used atop a knocked out tank etc) which gives the figure some animation compared to many "standing" figures. The rifle is held at the ready, and the figure has an air of defiance about him.
The casting is very good; there were no air bubbles or blemishes found. The folds and details were all very sharp. The pour plugs were generally small and thin, although the body had a strange sprue connecting the plug to the middle of the figure that will take some delicate cleaning up.
The sculpting is good, with some parts very well done and others only fair; this could be from "cannibalizing" parts from other figures. The clothing has some very nice folds and detail, the boots are only fair, but then the putties and socks are nice. The rifle is so-so. The webbing is good but the ammo pouches seem somewhat anemic. The face has good detail and is better than some other Warriors faces I have.
In conclusion, you get a nicely posed figure of a rare subject, well cast, with some good sculpting, but have a few downfalls that could be easily fixed. I personally would exchange the head for a Hornet offering and pose the figure as is.
This figure is perfect for a desert setting, a Pacific battleground or in an early Italian Campaign diorama.
Thanks to VLS for the review sample.
