From master figure modeler Douglas Lee, we now have a new donkey to add to our dioramas. While there are a few donkeys in this scale already, the most recent being Dragon Models' rendition in both German Gebirgsjäger w/Donkey, kit 6078, and kit # 6077, German Fallschrmjager w/Donkey, this one does not have a harness and has a bell.
It scales well with the Dragon set and would not look out of place next to them. With only five pieces, it does not need instructions, nor were any offered in the clear snap lid box.
Actually, I find this packaging excellent since it allows for paint drying without worrying about dust.
I shaved off the slight ridges on the inside and then used a permanent ink marker to paint the edges. This allows me to see how much I have sanded away. This sanding is accomplished by a sheet of wet/dry 600 grit sandpaper contact cemented to a sheet of thick safety glass.
Some filler will be necessary to hide the seam of the two body halves while the head's seam is partially hidden by the neck gear.
There is some flash to remove from the head as can be seen from the photo. However, this is easily accomplished with the back of a knife.
The last items to add are the tail and the bell. The bell is not hollow and is missing the ringer.
In the end, it is a nice addition to a diorama with various settings. It is recommended.
